The Non-Resident Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Maldives, Wiebe Jakob de Boer, has presented his credentials to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. Following the ceremony, the President and Ambassador discussed areas of mutual interest, including infrastructure development, climate adaptation and human rights cooperation, while reaffirming their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and investment ties.

Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and the Netherlands were established on 3 September 1979. The ambassador was accorded a traditional Haiykolhu procession accompanied by the MNDF Drum and Trumpet Band before formally presenting his credentials.
