A collaborative training programme focused on women's economic empowerment has commenced in Baa Eydhafushi on Tuesday, jointly organised by the Local Government Authority (LGA), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the Baa Atoll Council.

State Minister Mohamed Rafeeq represented the Ministry of Cities, Local Government, Public Works at the three-day programme, which targets female council members and Women's Development Committees (WDC) members from across Baa Atoll.

The programme aims to strengthen women's capacity in local governance and community development roles, contributing to the Government's comprehensive approach to women's empowerment across various sectors.

The initiative supports President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's commitment at the Presidential Address 2025 to inclusive development, which includes planned amendments to the Employment Act and Decentralisation Act addressing WDC concerns on pay status, allowances, and banking access.
