The Maldives Customs Service has seized 1.070 kilograms of cannabis smuggled into the country via postal services.

According to Customs officials, the drugs were intercepted on Tuesday, during routine inspections of incoming postal packages.

The drugs seized have an estimated street value of MVR 856,000.

A 52-year-old man, who arrived to collect the parcel, was taken into police custody for further investigation.
