Brigadier General (Retired) Farhath Shaheer has been appointed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Limited (MIFCO).
The Privatization and Corporatisation Board (PCB) confirmed the appointment on Wednesday, following the dismissal of Swiss national Dr Vitaliy Lyubimov on Monday.
Farhath previously served as the CEO of Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) and held the position of Vice Chief of Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) during the administration of former President Mohamed Nasheed.
The Government is working to strengthen MIFCO’s management and transform it into a profitable company that will drive innovation in the fisheries sector. Several measures have been taken to enhance transparency and prevent corruption within the company.
