Minister at the Presidential Palace, Iqbal Adam, has dismissed social media rumours alleging that the First Family spends MVR 9,000 per day on meals, labelling the claims as false and misleading.

The rumours, which began circulating widely on social media and were picked up by some media outlets, claimed that the President's family had purchased an unusually large quantity of food items amounting to MVR 9,000 for a single day.

In a post on X, Minister Iqbal refuted the allegations and urged the public not to spread misinformation.

The President’s Office has not issued an official statement on the matter.
