Madulu Mohamed Waheed, a prominent figure known for his contributions to Dhivehi language, has passed away. 

He died this morning while receiving treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), after a prolonged illness. 

Born in Haa Alif Hoarafushi, Madulu Waheed dedicated many years of his life to the development and preservation of Dhivehi language and literature. In recognition of his long-term service, he was awarded a national honour in 2019. 

In addition, he also made a significant contribution to Journalism, including translating foreign news to Dhivehi. 

He was also known as a prominent storyteller, having published several short and long stories. His stories are cherished by his readers and his passing is a profound loss for the community.

Madulu Waheed started his career in the literature of the Dhivehi language during his school days, marking a lifelong dedication to Dhivehi literature.
