The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has commenced the review of complaints submitted regarding the allocation of flats under the Gedhoruveriya housing scheme in Hulhumalé.

A total of 8,602 complaints were lodged concerning the provisional list of 4,000 recipients. The initial window for submissions was open from 1 to 30 March, but the deadline was extended to April 15 due to a series of public holidays during Ramadan and Eid.

According to the Ministry, 4,625 individuals submitted complaints through the Gedhoruverin portal, with a total of 5,236 complaints filed, reflecting that multiple submissions were allowed per applicant. Of these, 2,555 complaints were from individuals included in the initial list of eligible recipients.

Additionally, 2,840 complaints were received via email and 526 through letters addressed to the Ministry. Officials clarified that only third-party complaints submitted about individuals listed as flat recipients will be considered from these channels.

The Ministry has not provided a timeline for when the review process will conclude. The Gedhoruveriya scheme remains a key pillar in addressing the growing demand for affordable housing in the Greater Malé Region. The provisional list and subsequent complaints have drawn significant public interest, with many awaiting clarity on the final allocation outcome.
