On the occasion of World Creativity and Innovation Day, marked on Monday, April 21, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu issued a message emphasising the importance of expanding opportunities for creativity and innovation in the Maldives.

Via his official X account, the President stated that the aim should be to create a country where children can pursue their dreams, artists can thrive, and creators are able to shape a better future. He added that creativity and innovation should contribute to the sustainability and advancement of the nation.

World Creativity and Innovation Day is observed globally each year to recognise the role of creativity in addressing development challenges and fostering inclusive, sustainable growth.

The message reflects the Government’s stated goal to improve access to global digital platforms and support the creative industries across the Maldives. This includes recent efforts to enable TikTok monetisation, following meetings between Government officials and representatives from the platform, as well as ongoing discussions to introduce digital payment platforms such as PayPal.
