The Ministry of Health has announced the launch of major infrastructure upgrades at Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital, Dr. Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital, and Lhaviyani Naifaru Hospital, aiming to transform them into tertiary-level healthcare facilities.

The announcement was made earlier today during an official ceremony held at the Ministry. The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been entrusted with the development of Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital and Dr. Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital. Both facilities are set to undergo significant upgrades, including the construction of new buildings and the expansion of critical departments. Upon completion, the hospitals will be equipped to offer advanced medical services aligned with tertiary care standards.

Key components of the project include the upgrade of laboratory complexes and Intensive Care Units (ICUs).

Meanwhile, the Maldives Road Corporation has been awarded the contract for the development of Lhaviyani Naifaru Hospital. This project focuses on reinforcing the hospital’s infrastructure and enhancing its readiness to deliver high-level medical care.
