President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that investing in the education and empowerment of girls is an investment in the future of the Maldives.

Via his official X account, marking International Girls in ICT Day 2025, the President emphasised the need to create an inclusive digital environment where every girl has access to quality education, can develop digital skills, and is empowered to take on leadership roles in technology and innovation. He described the occasion as a time to celebrate the potential of young women in shaping the country’s digital transformation.

This year’s theme, “Girls in ICT for Inclusive Digital Transformation,” highlights the importance of closing gender gaps in the technology sector and ensuring that girls and young women are not left behind in the digital age.

International Girls in ICT Day is marked globally on April 24 to encourage girls and young women to consider careers in information and communication technology (ICT).
