WHO Representative Dr Padmal De Silva and UNICEF Deputy Representative Mr E.C. Finegold also spoke at the event, commending the Maldives' achievements in the health sector and reflecting on the importance of this year’s World Health Day theme.
Participants included the WHO, UNICEF, MNU Faculty of Health Sciences, School of Medicine, School of Nursing, Dhamanaveshi, Care Society, Cancer Society of Maldives, Diabetic Society of Maldives, Health Protection Agency, Hulhumalé Hospital, Society for Health Education, and Swim Maldives. Health screening services were also offered to the public throughout the event.
The fair ran in two sessions, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
This year’s World Health Day, observed on April 7, carried the theme “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures”, highlighting the importance of maternal and child health as a foundation for national prosperity and development.
