The First Lady and Chief Guide, Madam Sajidha Mohamed, honoured the 2024 Annual General Meeting of the Maldives Girl Guides Association.
In her speech at the event held at the Centre for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) on Saturday, the First Lady highlighted that the Girl Guide movement represents a vision built on positive social values, forming an essential part of the nation’s rich culture and traditions.
She emphasised the movement’s significance for all communities, noting its role as an institution of initiative, accountability, and human responsibility. The First Lady stressed that true value is not monetary; instead, it lies in human dignity, relationships, and the pride in fulfilling duties with honesty and responsibility.
The First Lady also underscored the vital role of women in nation-building, asserting that no nation can prosper without their participation, and that societal reform depends on recognising and empowering their contributions.
During the event, the First Lady officially launched the Maldives Girl Guides Association’s website. She presented certificates and badges to individuals who had served the Association for 20 to 25 years, as well as certificates, badges, and scarves conferred by the Chief Commissioner and Deputy Chief Commissioner of Girl Guides, marking the end of their terms. The First Lady also presented a certificate to Aishath Nashida, the newly appointed Chief Commissioner.
