The number of students memorising the Holy Qur'an has risen significantly, and a register of memorisers is currently being compiled, according to the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed.

In a statement published on Facebook, the Minister highlighted the emergence of a new generation devoted to memorising the Holy Qur'an. It is estimated that more than 700 students across the country are presently engaged in committing the Qur'an to memory at Qur'an centres, private institutes, and classes in both urban and provincial areas.

As part of an initiative led by the Minister, a special ceremony has been introduced to honour these achievements. Accordingly, 24 Hafiz were awarded their certificates during the inaugural Hafiz graduation ceremony held last Ramadan, with awards presented by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
