The First Lady, Madam Sajidha Mohamed, today attended the inaugural working session of Anhenveringe Sallaa, held at the Isravvehinge Naadhee Hall in Malé.

The event, taking place from  April 29 to 30, 2025, is the first initiative of its kind aimed at strengthening and empowering Women's Development Committees (WDCs) across the country.

Organised by the Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works, the session is specifically tailored for WDCs established under the Decentralisation Act of the Maldives.

The agenda of the discussion includes addressing the challenges faced by WDCs, identifying effective solutions, and focusing on strategies to empower these committees. The event also aims to explore actionable initiatives that WDCs can undertake to further the empowerment of women within their communities.

A total of 59 members are participating in the session, representing WDCs from Malé City, Malé Atoll, North Ari Atoll, South Ari Atoll, Felidhe Atoll, and Mulaku Atoll.
