The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has announced a week-long festival to commemorate the 21st anniversary of the settlement of Hulhumalé.
The celebrations, titled ‘My Hulhumalé Festival’, will begin on May 10 and feature a series of activities for people of all ages.
According to HDC, the festival will take place over several days and will include events designed to engage the wider community. Among the planned activities are a photography competition, family carnival, Hulhumalé discount week, health camp, photo storytelling, a fishing contest, cycling championship, and a beach fest.
Hulhumalé was officially settled on May 12, 2004, during the presidency of Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. The project, which aimed to expand the capital region, marked a major milestone in urban development as Hulhumalé began to grow into a key residential and commercial hub.
