Following a confirmed case of invasive meningococcal disease in the Maldives, health authorities have initiated contact tracing, preventive treatment for high-risk individuals, and safety measures to contain its spread. The serious bacterial infection, which can cause meningitis or sepsis, spreads through close respiratory contact and is rare locally but can be severe. The public is urged to follow hygiene practices and avoid close contact when unwell to reduce infection risk.
