President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reiterated the Maldives’ steadfast commitment to advocating for the Palestinian cause.

The statement was made during a formal meeting held with Ihab Ibrahim Mohamed Khaleel, the Non-Resident Ambassador of Palestine to the Maldives, following the presentation of his credentials to President Dr Muizzu earlier today.

During the discussion, President Dr Muizzu emphasised the Maldives' enduring dedication to raising its voice in support of Palestine on the international stage. Both leaders expressed their mutual interest in further strengthening diplomatic relations and deepening cooperation between the two nations.

Ambassador Khaleel expressed his gratitude for the Maldives' consistent and unwavering support for Palestine. He spoke of the importance of the Maldives continuing to advocate for the Palestinian cause within global forums and international institutions.

The Ambassador was escorted from Republic Square to the President’s Office in a traditional Haiykolhu cultural procession, accompanied by the Drum and Trumpet Band of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).

Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Palestine were officially established on April 4, 1982, marking over four decades of solidarity and cooperation between the two countries.
