Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr Abdulla Muththalib stated that the Government’s goal to establish water and sewerage systems in all inhabited islands by next year is achievable, despite previous delays. He attributed setbacks to procedural issues and cancelled contracts under the former administration, noting that MWSC has now taken over and is actively mobilising efforts. The Government is also addressing long-standing gaps in utility services for reclaimed lands and working to remove regulatory hurdles to activate completed projects.
