Dharumavantha Hospital partners with Chinese hospital to strengthen pediatric surgery

Dharumavantha Hospital has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China’s Children’s Hospital of Soochow University to strengthen paediatric surgical care services in the Maldives.

The agreement aims to foster collaboration in medical expertise, professional training, and knowledge exchange, according to Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), which announced the partnership on X.

IGMH described the MoU as a joint commitment to advancing paediatric healthcare in the country.

Following the signing ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Kong Xianhua welcomed the agreement, calling it a meaningful step toward improving health outcomes for children.

“Children are our future, and health is the greatest gift,” he said in a post on X.

Ambassador Kong described the partnership as one that brings hope, compassion, and professional support to Maldivian families. He also highlighted the broader diplomatic value of the collaboration, noting that it further strengthens the long-standing friendship between China and the Maldives.

He expressed appreciation to the medical teams from both institutions, stating their dedication serves as an inspiration.
