Tourist arrivals in the Maldives reached 1.15 million as of July 8, 2025, marking a 9.3 per cent increase compared to the same period last year, with strong growth continuing despite the low season. China remains the top source market, followed by Russia and the UK, while resorts account for the majority of tourist accommodation. The Government aims to attract 2.3 million visitors by year-end, with the upcoming opening of the new terminal at Velana International Airport expected to support this goal.
