Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has announced that the new terminal at Velana International Airport will open on July 26, initially serving international flights operated by the national carrier, Maldivian. The launch coincides with the Maldives’ 60th Independence Day and marks a key step in expanding the country’s aviation infrastructure. Trial runs of check-in and IT systems are underway as part of preparations, with the terminal expected to enhance passenger experience and boost the Maldives’ position as a competitive air travel hub.
