Ooredoo Maldives has marked a national milestone by completing the country's first submarine cable landing at a resort, connecting Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi and establishing it as the nation’s first private 5G-ready island. The new infrastructure, inaugurated on 2 August 2025, links Hulhumalé, Maafushi, and Ithaafushi to Ooredoo’s data centre, significantly enhancing connectivity, bandwidth, and digital resilience. The project supports Ooredoo’s long-term vision for a digitally inclusive Maldives and positions the resort at the forefront of smart hospitality innovation.
