The Maldives has agreed to host Palestine’s Under-17 national football team for a training camp ahead of the AFC Under-17 Asian Cup qualifiers.
The Palestinian Football Federation requested to hold the camp in the Maldives from 8 to 19 November, as the team is unable to train on home soil due to the ongoing conflict in Palestine.
The decision was finalised following a meeting on Tuesday between Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu and officials of the Football Association of Maldives (FAM), including President Ahmed Thoriq and Secretary General Zareer.
According to the Sports Ministry, the camp will include two friendly matches against the Maldives’ Under-17 side, with the initiative aimed at supporting Palestine and further strengthening ties between the two nations.
