Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced that applications are now open for its internship programme, offering students and graduates of higher education institutions in the Maldives the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across the Bank’s operations.

The 12-month programme, which began in 2018, has so far supported 77 interns, with several moving on to permanent roles within the Bank. This year, the initiative has been expanded with the introduction of the TechStart Internship Programme, designed specifically for IT students alongside the existing Graduate Internship track.

According to BML, the Graduate Internship Programme will accommodate 15 interns with placements across all divisions, while TechStart will take on 10 interns within the Technology Division. Participants will work under the guidance of line managers and mentors, completing key performance objectives and rotating through different functions of the Bank.

The Bank confirmed that monthly allowances for interns have been increased this year, with graduate interns receiving MVR 9,000 and TechStart interns MVR 11,000. Interns will also be eligible for benefits including a Ramadan bonus, 15 days of annual paid leave, and 10 days of leave for medical or family emergencies. Applications can be submitted online through the Bank’s website until 30 September 2025.
