President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reviewed the progress of the Boduthakurufaanu Magu North Side Road Development Project, a key route in Malé that links the Henveiru Ferry Terminal to the Local Market.

The MVR 144.5 million development project, contracted to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) in April 2025 began on 21 August. It will widen an 830-metre stretch into four lanes through partial reclamation, reinforced coastal structures and upgraded road systems. The project also includes 737 metres of sheet piling to support the expansion.

During his visit to the project site on 15 September, the President was accompanied by Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr Abdulla Muththalib and MTCC Managing Director, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Retd.) Ahmed Saudee. Officials briefed him on the first phase of works, noting that sheet piling has been fully completed, reclamation is 82 per cent finished, while anchor block installation has reached 64 per cent and C-channel installation 72 per cent.

According to the Government, the upgraded road will feature underground utilities, improved drainage, pedestrian walkways and modern traffic management systems. Authorities expect the project to be completed and inaugurated within 455 days.
