Bank of Maldives (BML) has been selected to host the 42nd Asian Bankers Association (ABA) General Meeting and Conference in the Maldives in 2026. The announcement was made at the 41st ABA General Meeting and Conference, held in Bhutan from 15–16 September 2025.

This will be the second time BML hosts the regional event, following the successful conference held in Malé in 2018. The gathering will bring together banking leaders, executives, and policymakers from across Asia to discuss key developments in the financial sector, including emerging opportunities and industry challenges.

At the Bhutan meeting, BML’s CEO and Managing Director, Mohamed Shareef, was appointed as Vice Chairman of the ABA, strengthening the Maldives’ role in the association.

The 2026 conference will feature panel discussions, workshops, and networking sessions designed to promote dialogue and cooperation among Asian financial institutions.
