The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has released the names of 135 individuals who failed to submit their Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Green Tax returns by the end of the May 2025 deadline.

The initial list, made public on 8 September, included 152 names. However, following the announcement, 17 individuals settled their outstanding filings, reducing the final number to 135.

According to MIRA, the publication of names forms part of its enforcement policy to ensure compliance with tax obligations. The authority stated that those who have not yet submitted their returns have been contacted by phone and informed of the penalties and enforcement measures that may be taken if they continue to default.

MIRA further noted that additional recovery actions will be carried out without exception to secure unpaid taxes and other dues to the state. The authority has urged remaining defaulters to file their returns immediately or to enter into repayment agreements to avoid stricter measures.
