The Privatizzation and Corporatization Board (PCB) has appointed new members to the Board of Directors of the State Pharmaceutical and Medical Supply Corporation, a State-owned enterprise tasked with ensuring the availability of essential medicines and medical equipment in the Maldives.

Dr Shah Mahir, currently Deputy CEO of Dharumavantha Hospital, has been named Managing Director of the corporation and will also serve as a board member.

Dr Shah is a seasoned health sector professional who previously held the post of State Minister at the Ministry of Health under both the current administration and the former government of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. He stepped down from that role in August 2023 before joining Dharumavantha Hospital in his latest capacity.

The PCB also announced that Aishath Mohamed and Shibana Abdulla Didi have also been appointed to the board.

The State Pharmaceutical and Medical Supply Corporation, established as a 100 per cent Government-owned company, is mandated to manage the import, storage, and distribution of medical consumables and equipment nationwide. Officials have stated that the strengthened leadership aims to further improve efficiency and reliability in the medical supply chain, ensuring that hospitals and healthcare centres across the country have consistent access to essential goods.
