President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has assured that resuming stalled projects in Faafu Feeali will be a priority for the Government in the coming year.

Speaking during his visit to the island as part of his ongoing tour of four atolls, the President announced that 15 hectares of land will be reclaimed once a shipment of rock boulders arrives, fulfilling a pledge he made during his presidential campaign. He added that reclamation efforts on other islands, previously halted due to a shortage of rock boulders, will also recommence once new consignments are delivered, with a shipment for Feeali expected soon.

At a community meeting held at Faafu Atoll Madharusa, residents raised concerns over stalled projects, including land reclamation and water and sewerage works, as well as gaps in health services. They also highlighted operational challenges at the Feeali Ice Plant, and called for a fish aggregating device (FAD), expanded health services, and access to thalassaemia treatment on the island.

Responding to these concerns, President Dr Muizzu reiterated the Government’s determination to comprehensively address community needs and ensure timely and coordinated implementation of new initiatives.
