Agreements signed for key development projects in Nilandhoo

A series of agreements have been signed to launch key development projects in Faafu Nilandhoo, during President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to the island on Saturday.

The projects include the establishment of a fuel shed, a road construction project, land reclamation for a canning factory, harbour development works, and the introduction of Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) services.

The agreements were formalised during a meeting held with the island’s residents. The passport service was also inaugurated on the island by Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan.

Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr Abdulla Muththalib signed an agreement with Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) Managing Director Ahmed Saudee for the road construction project.

An agreement for land reclamation and harbour development in Nilandhoo was signed by Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources Ahmed Shiyam, with MTCC Managing Director Ahmed Saudee signing on behalf of the company.

Meanwhile, WAMCO signed an agreement with the Nilandhoo Council to begin waste management services on the island. The agreement was signed by WAMCO Managing Director Mujthaba Jaleel and Council President Ali Ahmed.
