President Dr Mohamed Muizzu attended the inauguration of two key infrastructure projects, the newly built police station and a new council office building in Faafu Nilandhoo.

The commencement of operations at the Nilandhoo Police Station was officiated by Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan, in the presence of President Dr Muizzu, Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen, MTCC Managing Director Ahmed Saudee, and members of the Nilandhoo Council. The Government aims to establish police stations in every inhabited island within the next two years, a goal it believes will significantly strengthen nationwide efforts to ensure public safety.

Later, the President witnessed the groundbreaking of the new Nilandhoo Council building. The ceremony was led by Minister of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar, joined by constituency MP Fathimath Saudhaa and council members. This initiative forms part of the administration’s plan to replace ageing council facilities, with a target of developing more than 100 new island council buildings over the next five years.

Both projects underscore the Government’s commitment to improving local governance and public security across the Maldives.
