Ferries have departed for Thaa Atoll as the Government prepares to launch the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) service there.

This expansion is part of the Government’s Integrated National Public Ferry Network, designed to provide affordable, efficient, and safe marine transport across the country.

Since its initial rollout in 2022, RTL has gradually connected northern and central atolls, linking dozens of islands and significantly improving inter-island mobility.

Officials note that the Thaa Atoll service will deliver important socio-economic benefits, making it easier for residents to travel for education, healthcare, trade, and tourism-related activities. By reducing travel time and enhancing access to essential services, the ferry network is expected to stimulate local economies and strengthen community ties across the archipelago.

Operations in Thaa Atoll are scheduled to begin soon, allowing residents to enjoy the same reliable high-speed connectivity that has already transformed daily life in other regions of the Maldives.
