The Government of Maldives has welcomed the decision by the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia to formally recognise the State of Palestine.

The announcement comes amid a wave of recognition at the UN General Assembly, with several additional countries backing Palestinian statehood.

In a statement, the Maldivian Government described the move as a significant development in the pursuit of peace and stability in the region, noting that it reflects a growing international consensus on the urgency of securing peace, security and dignity for the Palestinian people.

Reiterating its position, the Maldives called on all nations that have not yet done so to support the Palestinian people in their legitimate pursuit of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine.

The Government has consistently maintained a firm position on the genocide in Palestine, using international platforms to advocate for urgent global action.
