Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Abdulla Khaleel has said the Maldives 2.0 Roadmap is designed to integrate global best practices into the country’s unique context.
He made the remarks at a side event titled “Digital Transformation for Sustainable Development,” jointly hosted by the Maldives and Estonia on the sidelines of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
The session, held on Tuesday, included a panel discussion with international stakeholders on the role of partnerships, shared best practices, and pathways toward a sustainable digital future.
Minister Dr Khaleel also invited other countries, international organisations, and the private sector to invest in the Maldives.
The side event was part of the Maldives’ strategy to achieve developed-country status by 2040, in line with the national vision for development announced by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at the 79th UNGA.
According to the Ministry, the main objectives of Maldives 2.0 include stimulating the economy, increasing productivity, and ensuring that digital technology contributes 15 per cent of GDP by 2030.
