300 housing units to be built in Muli next year

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the construction of 300 housing units in Meemu Muli, will begin next year, as part of the Government’s commitment to easing housing shortages.
Addressing residents at the community meeting in Muli during his tour of islands in four atolls, the President confirmed that the project will be carried out in two phases. Construction of the first 150 units is scheduled to start in February, with the remaining 150 units beginning by September.
Alongside the housing project, the President said the Government will soon begin issuing housing loans to eligible applicants who applied this year and that applications for the loan next year will open as well.
President Dr Muizzu also highlighted other infrastructure and service developments underway in Muli. He noted that night flights will commence at Muli Airport from October, while ongoing electricity supply issues will be resolved by the end of the year.
Referring to the Muli–Naalaafushi causeway, the President acknowledged delays due to design changes but assured that the project will be completed in the near future. He further pledged improvements to the island’s education and healthcare sectors. During the function, Passport issuing services were commenced and agreements were signed to hand over Muli’s waste management project to WAMCO and to implement coastal protection measures for the island.
