A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed to provide scholarship opportunities for Maldivian students to study at universities in Hungary.
The agreement was formalised during a meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Abdulla Khaleel and Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the MoU will enable Maldivians to pursue undergraduate, graduate and PhD programmes in Hungary. Between 2025 and 2027, 25 scholarships will be made available each year.
The scholarships are part of the Hungarian Government’s Stipendium Hungaricum programme, which aims to attract international students to Hungarian universities, build academic and cultural ties, and provide opportunities for students to pursue higher education in Europe.
