The Maldives has been honoured as the country of focus at the Sharjah International Narrator Forum (SINF) 2025, which opened on 22 September under the theme “Tales of Travellers.”

Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage Adam Naseer Ibrahim attended the opening ceremony as guest of honour and delivered remarks on the historic links between the Maldivian and Arabic alphabets. He was accompanied by Uz 'Kashima' Ahmed Shakir and Maryam Isha Azeez from the Nationhood Council.

In his remarks, Minister Adam Naseer emphasised the Government’s commitment to strengthening cultural preservation efforts for the Maldivian people. Alongside his presentation, the Maldivian delegation participated in forum activities that introduced them to developments in the global heritage sector, including the use of modern technology and innovative approaches to presenting national culture.

The silver jubilee edition of the forum, inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, brings together more than 120 storytellers, researchers and cultural practitioners from 37 countries. Running until 26 September, the five-day event features performances, exhibitions and workshops celebrating storytelling as a universal language and a tool of cultural exchange.
