The Ministry of Social and Family Development has announced plans to organise a special programme titled “Ufaaveri Raasthaa” in observance of the International Day of Older Persons.

The initiative is scheduled to take place across eight atolls, including Laamu Maamendhoo, Gaafu Alifu Dhaandhoo, Haa Dhaalu Kurin’bi, Shaviyani Milandhoo, Raa Inguraidhoo, Kaafu Thulusdhoo, and Haa Alifu Kelaa, in partnership with local island councils.

According to the Ministry, “Ufaaveri Raasthaa” aims to provide opportunities for older persons to gather in a joyful environment, exchange ideas, and strengthen social connections. The programme will also highlight the importance of leading active, healthy, and socially engaged lives.

In addition, the events are designed to serve as a platform for senior citizens to share their life experiences and wisdom with younger generations, fostering intergenerational understanding and stronger community bonds.
