President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has conveyed his condolences to the government and people of the Philippines after a devastating earthquake claimed at least 69 lives and left over 150 injured.

In a message on X, the President expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of life and widespread destruction, extending sympathies to bereaved families and affirming that the Maldives stands in solidarity with the Philippines during this time of national grief.

The 6.9-magnitude quake struck off the coast of Bogo City, north of Cebu province, causing buildings to collapse and widespread damage to infrastructure. Rescue operations are underway to free people trapped in debris, while authorities work to restore power and water services in affected areas.
