Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has briefed key agencies on preparations for the opening of Hanimaadhoo International Airport, during a stakeholder meeting held on 5 October 2025 at Hulhulé Island Hotel.

The meeting was attended by MACL CEO and Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohammed, Deputy Managing Director Mujthaba Latheef, and senior members of the company’s management. Also present were Immigration Controller CP (Retd) Ahmed Faseeh, Commissioner General of Customs Fathimath Dhiyana, and representatives from Maldives Customs Service, Maldives Immigration, Maldives Civil Aviation Authority, Maldives Police Service, Maldives National Defence Force, and Maldives National Air Traffic Service (MNETS).

Addressing participants, CEO Shareef said MACL will assume full responsibility for operating Hanimaadhoo International Airport. He stressed that safety and security would remain a priority and underlined the company’s commitment to working closely with stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition.

He added that MACL values input from partner agencies and would continue to consult with them in all operational aspects, noting that their cooperation and assistance will be vital as the airport moves towards opening.
