President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has designated Kudadhoo Falhu and two lagoons, identified as RF1329 and RF1330, as part of Alifu Dhaalu Omadhoo, in fulfilment of a pledge made to the island’s residents.

According to the President’s Office, the decision aims to enable development projects that will generate economic opportunities for the community, including initiatives in the tourism sector.

The change was formalised under Presidential Decree No. 26/2025, which amends Decree No. 2/2025 specifying the list of inhabited islands in the Maldives. The amendments were made pursuant to the Decentralisation Act (Law No. 7/2010), and the updated list of inhabited islands was published in the Government Gazette on 5 February 2025.

This move forms part of the Administration’s ongoing efforts to allocate uninhabited islands and lagoons to administrative jurisdictions to support future development. In line with the same policy, Thaa Ufuriyaa and Kolhufushi were recently brought under the jurisdiction of Madifushi.
