Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef has inaugurated a photo exhibition organised by the Maldives Polytechnic to commemorate the 50th anniversary of vocational education in the country.
The exhibition, titled “Vocational Journey in Frames”, showcases over 150 photographs tracing the history of vocational training since the first vocational centre was established on 14 October 1975.
The opening ceremony, held at the SIFCO Party Hall, was attended by Minister of Higher Education and Skills Development Dr Ali Haidar Ahmed, Polytechnic CEO CEO Zhushan Kamaluddin, and senior students of the institution. A digital gallery of 200 photographs was also launched at the event, with the Vice President officiating its inauguration. Students of the polytechnic presented a memento to the Vice President to commemorate the occasion.
The exhibition includes images of courses and programmes conducted by the polytechnic in Malé and across the atolls over the past five decades. It will remain open until 10 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow.
As part of the golden jubilee celebrations, a carnival will be held from 16 to 17 October featuring activities, workshops, and services offered by the polytechnic. A special ceremony is also planned to celebrate the anniversary. Currently, the Maldives Polytechnic offers 25 courses across multiple campuses, with over 500 students enrolled in various fields of study.
