Ground has been broken for a new mosque in Shaviyani Noomaraa by Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed.

The ceremony was held as part of President President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s ongoing tour of the atoll, during which he is meeting with island communities, councils, and Women’s Development Committees (WDCs) to discuss local development priorities and community welfare.

Funded through the State budget, the new mosque will accommodate up to 300 worshippers and will serve as a space for both men and women. The design also includes a library and a classroom, along with dedicated ablution areas.

The project is being carried out under the supervision of Fenaka Corporation and is expected to be completed within 550 days.
