Three major development projects have been launched in Shaviyani Feydhoo, covering a new Fitness and Recreation Centre, road upgrades, and coastal protection works. The groundbreaking for Fitness Centre was officiated by Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu, Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef, and the President of the Feydhoo Island Council . Developed by MACL, the facility will feature an indoor gym, aerobics space, board games area, classrooms and meeting rooms to support health, training, and community activities.

In addition, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been contracted to upgrade the island’s roads and strengthen its coastline. The road project, worth MVR 116.9 million, was signed by Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Hassan Rasheed and MTCC Managing Director Ahmed Saudhee, and is due for completion within one year and seven months. The MVR 25.1 million coastal protection works will add a 320-metre revetment and a 340-metre groyne, scheduled to be completed in five months. Officials said the projects are critical to safeguarding the island’s coast and improving infrastructure for residents.
