President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that all development projects in Shaviyani Narudhoo will be prioritised and implemented in line with the aspirations of local residents.
During his visit to the island, the President officially handed over the health centre upgrading project to the Road Development Corporation (RDC) and awarded the coastal protection project to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
He affirmed that all ongoing and new projects would be completed swiftly as pledged. Upcoming initiatives include the construction of four classrooms and a multipurpose hall, as well as the development of a modern stadium. Plans for the renovation of the futsal pitch and construction of a handball court are to be incorporated into next year’s budget.
Focusing on healthcare, the President said efforts will be made to strengthen services by expanding the health centre, extending its service hours to 16, and recruiting additional staff for wards and laboratories.
Further plans include building a new council office, resuming sewerage system works through Fenaka Corporation, and addressing harbour expansion following an environmental impact assessment.
He also noted that land allocation matters will be coordinated through the Narudhoo Island Council, ensuring that all Government development projects align with community priorities.
