Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed congratulated Ooredoo Maldives and its fintech arm after the company secured an Inward Remittance Licence from the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA). The licence, handed over by MMA Governor Ahmed Munawar to Ooredoo Maldives Chairperson Fatima Al Kuwari, will enable services such as PayPal transfers through the m-Faisaa wallet. Ooredoo said the service, set to launch in 2026, will benefit freelancers, small businesses, and families who depend on international payments. The Government has highlighted PayPal integration as a key step in advancing modern payment systems in the Maldives.
