First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has emphasised the importance of collective global action to end hunger and ensure food security, in a message shared to commemorate World Food Day.
In her post on X, the First Lady reflected on the deeper meaning of food, noting that it goes beyond being a basic necessity. She highlighted that food represents a fundamental human right and plays a vital role in connecting people across cultures and communities, nourishing both body and spirit.
She also drew attention to the growing global challenges that threaten food systems, such as climate change and conflict, stressing the need for strengthened partnerships and coordinated international efforts to overcome them.
The First Lady reaffirmed her belief in the power of collaboration to eradicate hunger, improve nutrition, and create sustainable solutions for all. She emphasised that meaningful change requires unity and shared commitment, adding that a better future depends on ensuring better food for everyone.
World Food Day, observed annually on 16 October, serves as a global reminder of the importance of achieving food security and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. The 2025 theme, “Water is Life, Water is Food. Leave No One Behind,” highlights the critical need to protect and manage water resources that sustain both food production and life itself.
