President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has expressed his condolences to the family of a man who died in a boat accident in Gaafu Alifu Atoll. The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Ahmed Shifan from Dhaandhoo.

The incident occurred last night when a landing craft carrying seven people capsized. Four passengers were rescued, while two others remain missing. Authorities continue search operations to locate them.

In his message, the President said he was deeply saddened by the loss of life and prayed for strength and patience for the victim’s family, as well as a swift recovery for the survivors. He also assured that relevant agencies are working to account for the missing passengers.
