Foreign Minister departs to Egypt on an official visit

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Abdulla Khaleel, departed to Egypt yesterday on an official visit at the invitation of Dr Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt.

During the visit, Minister Dr Khaleel will hold official talks with his Egyptian counterpart, Dr Badr Abdelatty, to review the longstanding ties of friendship and cooperation between the Maldives and Egypt, which are rooted in mutual respect and a shared Islamic heritage. The discussions will also focus on exploring new areas of collaboration in fields such as education, health, trade, and cultural exchange.

Additionally, Minister Dr Khaleel is scheduled to meet senior Egyptian government officials to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and expand partnerships across key sectors. The visit reaffirms the Maldives’ commitment to deepening relations with Egypt and enhancing collaboration at both bilateral and multilateral levels.

Minister Dr Khaleel is accompanied by Dr Hala Hameed, Secretary, and Ms Khadeeja Najeeha, Additional Secretary, from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
