The event was attended by the First Lady, the Vice President, Former President Dr Waheed, Cabinet Ministers, senior officials, and residents of Bodu Thiladhunmathi, representing a significant milestone for the northern Maldives.
The newly developed airport includes a 10,380-square-metre terminal with separate domestic and international floors, four boarding gates, the first aerobridge to be installed at an atoll airport, BML USD ATM and USD counters, a 2,465-metre runway, a new air-traffic control tower, a cargo terminal and an apron capable of accommodating nine aircraft simultaneously, including three Airbus and six ATR aircraft.
